Standard Design

Our key product is the 23mm diameter preformed non-fenestrated scleral lens based on a design pioneered by Ken Pullum.

A standard fitting set consists of 2 ranges with 9 lenses in each.

The ā€œNā€ series of lenses has a back scleral radius (BSR) of 13.50mm and comes in a range of optic zone projections (OZPs) numbered 1-9, with 1 being the least OZP and 9 being the greatest OZP.

The ā€œFā€ series of lenses has a back scleral radius (BSR) of 14.50mm and also comes in a range of optic zone projections (OZPs) numbered 1-9.

The fitting objective is to achieve alignment on the scleral and clearance over both the limbus and the cornea.

Lenses must be filled with preservative-free saline for insertion as there is minimal tear exchange once the lens is in situ. For fitting purposes fluorescein must also be added to the bowl of the lens prior to insertion.

ADDITIONAL PARAMETERS

  • The standard scleral design can be manufactured in diameters from 20mm to 24mm. Elliptical diameters are also available.
  • The OZP may be increased or decreased beyond the standard series.
  • The optic zone is decentred by 1mm nasally as standard but this may be altered.
  • Limbal clearance may be increased or decreased as required.
