Impression Lenses

Scleral lenses can now be produced in RGP and PMMA materials from a cast (impression) of the patient’s eye using state of the art scanning and CAD equipment.

This permits the fitting of non-coaxial bearing surfaces and unusual topography.

A PMMA fitting shell is normally supplied in the first instance with a standard substance removed from the optic zone to create corneal clearance. Once the fitting of the shell has been verified and modified as necessary the final RGP lens can be produced.
